Dec. 9, 2012

§  Special opportunities to reach out: Each week of Advent, we will be taking an extra offering as a way of expressing our desire for Hope, Peace, Joy & Love in the world, and to give thanks for the blessing of these things in our lives. We will support: Dec. 2 - Mission Educ-Arte in Mexico (Steve Williams spoke about this outreach for children); Dec. 9 – Martha's Table; Dec. 16 – the Lion's Club Christmas Basket program (monetary and/or 'white' gifts); Dec. 23 – our own Good Food Box program (providing local families with fresh produce) Support your cause of choice, or support them all! Give through your offering envelope in order to receive a receipt – be sure to mark on it amounts designated and for each cause.

§  Wed. Dec. 12 – All women of the congregation are invited to join the UCW for lunch at Ramekins; please let Janet Inglis know if you plan to attend. (carpooling from the church at 12:30 pm – the regular meeting will start at 11 am)

§  The Mitten Tree is up! Please bring mittens, gloves, scarves, hats, etc.  to decorate it, now and until Sun. Dec. 16; these items will be added to the Lion's Club Christmas Baskets.

§  Dec. 16 – "White Gift" Sunday, Junior Church Pageant, and congregational Potluck Christmas Party following the service!

§  Homes needed! – for the many stuffed toys on display in the foyer. Please make a donation to the Lion's Club Christmas programs and take one home with you today!

  • Next Stewards Meeting: Tues. Jan. 8 at 7:30 pm (please note time change)

§  Want to support your church on a regular, scheduled basis? Consider PAR (pre-authorized remittance); 'info' in the foyer.

§  Shop locally: An awesome new business, "Before & After," has opened in Westbrook. Shopping there will help support a group of our church members, and they have put up a display encouraging everyone to check out Emmanuel U. C. – an invitation to join us on Sunday, with special mention of the Sharing Centre and our new children's program. Take the time to drop in and say 'hello" to Paul, Lisa and Jenny; you'll find unique gifts, like handmade jewellery and artisan items.
